1. Who we are
Astro Notes is operated by Marco Ferra (“we”, “us”). These terms form the agreement between you and us for your use of the service at astronotes.eu. By creating an account or using Astro Notes, you accept them.
2. The service
Astro Notes is an end-to-end encrypted notes service. Your notes are encrypted on your device with keys derived from your password. The server stores only ciphertext and cannot read, recover, or hand over your note content. The service also offers cross-device sync, live collaboration, and Markdown export. Features and limits may change as the service evolves.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Astro Notes.
- You are responsible for your credentials, including your password and recovery key.
- You must keep your recovery key safe. Because we hold no copy of your keys, a lost passwordwithout the recovery key means your notes cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for the notes you create and share.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Astro Notes to:
- Break the law or infringe others’ rights.
- Store or share content you have no right to store or share.
- Attack, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service, or circumvent its security, rate limits, or plan limits.
- Resell or provide the service to third parties except as these terms allow.
Because notes are encrypted and unreadable to us, moderation is limited: we act on abuse we can detect (such as traffic patterns) and on lawful reports, and may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
5. Free and paid plans
The free plan includes the core service within published limits: up to 50 notes and 100 KB per note. Orbit, the paid plan, lifts the note limit, raises the per-note size, and adds note history and live collaboration, subject to a fair-use account storage allowance. We may contact you before applying limits if usage is far beyond typical personal use.
6. Billing, renewals, and cancellation
- Orbit is billed in advance through Stripe on the interval you choose (monthly or yearly). A verified email address is required, as invoices are sent to it.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Prices may change with prior notice.
- You can cancel any time from the billing portal in Account settings. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
- EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal. Because Orbit gives immediate access to a digital service, by subscribing you ask us to start at once and acknowledge that this right is lost once the period begins. Payments are otherwise non-refundable, except where the law requires. If a plan lapses, your notes stay readable and exportable. Only the paid features stop.
7. Your content
Your notes are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store and transmit the ciphertext so the service can function. We claim no other rights, and we do not use your content to train models or for advertising.
8. Availability and encryption disclaimer
We work to keep Astro Notes available and reliable, but the service is provided “as is”, without warranties, to the extent the law allows. In particular, end-to-end encryption means we cannot reset your keys: if you lose both your password and your recovery key, your notes are permanently unrecoverable. Keep exports of anything you cannot afford to lose.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data arising from lost credentials, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, or fraud.
10. Suspension and termination
You may delete your account at any time in Account settings. This destroys your data immediately and cancels any subscription. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or the law, giving notice where practical.
11. Changes to these terms
We will announce material changes in the app before they take effect. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, and disputes fall to the courts of our domicile, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
